3) Now reflect on your video. Did you meet the brief and successfully include the three key editing aspects we have learned?


I think I met the brief because I created a scene with two people having a conversation while using the main editing techniques we learned. I included continuity editing, shot reverse shot, and the 180-degree rule. These techniques helped the scene flow naturally and made it easier for the audience to understand the relationship between the characters. The editing choices helped keep the conversation clear and professional.





4) What were the strengths and weaknesses of your final film? Write a detailed analysis picking out specific shots, edits and any other aspect of film language you think is relevant.


One of the main strengths of my video was the use of camera angles and editing. The opening shot of both characters sitting opposite each other clearly established the scene and showed their positions. The shot reverse shot editing between the two chairs worked well because it kept the audience focused on the conversation. The close-ups of each character helped show reactions and emotions, making the scene feel more realistic.





5) Learner response: what aspect of editing did you find most difficult? What have you learned from this process that will help you when you start the actual coursework later this year?

A weakness of my video was that some shots were too similar and could have included more variety. I could have used more close-ups and different angles to make the scene visually more interesting. The sound quality could also be improved because some background noise distracted from the dialogue. The pacing could have been better by making some cuts quicker to keep the audience more engaged.

Editing video: Continuity task

1)  For my preliminary exercise, I will be working in a pair. The scene will be filmed in a quiet room with a door and two chairs placed opposite each other. One character will already be seated, while the other enters the room through the door, walks across the room and sits down. After sitting, the two characters will exchange a short piece of dialogue. This setup allows us to clearly demonstrate continuity editing techniques. 2)  INT. ROOM – DAY CHARACTER B is sitting on a chair, waiting. The DOOR HANDLE turns and the door opens.
