Blinded By The Light was given a 12A rating. There is some strong language and themes of racism and discrimination, but these are shown in a negative way. There are no drugs, sex, nudity, or sexual violence. Violence and threat are very mild. The film deals with serious ideas but in a positive and safe way for younger audiences with adult guidance.

A 12A rating means children under 12 can watch a film in the cinema if they are with an adult. The film may include moderate violence, some strong language, or mature themes, but nothing too extreme.
6) The BBFC website offers an explanation of every classification it makes and detailed case studies on selected titles. Look at the rating for Blinded By The Light and explain why it was given a 12A certificate for cinema release.
Blinded By The Light was given a 12A rating because it includes some strong language and themes of racism. These topics may need explanation for younger viewers, but the film is positive and not harmful. That is why the BBFC decided it was suitable for under-12s with adult guidance.
