Sound video feedback and learner response

 Feedback from my teacher

WWW:

Good concept

fufils brief well

Very good images

Well edited

EBI:

Smoother editing

Feedback from my classmates:

I had a good use of images and there were a variety of imgaes and the difference between the images was quite clear and that allowed me to follow the breif completely and the sound also matched the breif as it being one sound through. However an ebi that alot of my classmates gave me was that i need smoother editing and the ending of my video was quite abrupt.

What Went Well (WWW):
My video successfully demonstrated the difference between parallel and contrapuntal sound. The examples I chose clearly showed how music can either match the action on screen (parallel) or contrast with it (contrapuntal) to create tension, irony, or humor. The editing was timed well with the audio, so the audience could easily see and hear the effect of each technique. I think the video made the concepts clear and easy to understand.

Even Better If (EBI):
The video could have been improved if I had added more variety in examples to show different moods or genres. I could also have included brief on-screen text or narration to reinforce the definitions of parallel and contrapuntal sound, which would make the learning points even clearer for the audience.

4) Learner response

Comparing my video with the top three in the class, I think Neev had the best video because they used a wide range of examples across different genres and ensured the audio levels were perfectly balanced. Their video made the differences between parallel and contrapuntal sound very easy to understand. I could improve my own video by using more contrasting examples and ensuring all audio was balanced so that no clip was too quiet or too loud. Adding short explanations on screen would also have helped.

5) What I Learned About the Importance of Sound
This week taught me that sound is crucial in film and TV, not just as a background element but as a tool to create meaning. Parallel sound reinforces what the audience sees, while contrapuntal sound can change how a scene is interpreted, adding irony, tension, or humor. Timing, volume, and clarity are all important for the audience to fully understand the effect of the sound. I now understand that sound can completely alter the impact of visuals and is a powerful storytelling tool.
